SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University Wind Ensemble will host an all-day Band-A-Palooza event on Saturday, March 23, on the ASU campus - followed by a free public concert on Sunday, March 24, in the Brooks & Bates Theatre at the San Angelo Performing Arts Center, 82 Gillis St. downtown.
Band-A-Palooza will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive, and is free and open to the public. It will feature a day of masterclasses and performances on all band instruments, and musicians of all ages are invited to bring their instruments and join in. Highlights will include performances by the ASU Wind Ensemble, ASU Jazz Ensemble, and individual ASU faculty and students.
Interested musicians can pre-register for Band-A-Palooza at angelo.edu/music, and walk-ins are also welcome.

The Wind Ensemble concert on Sunday, titled "Desert Sage," will begin at 2:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The musical program will include:
- "Fanfare for a New Day" by Jeff Herwid
- "Desert Sage" by Michael Markowski
- "Ambush" by Dakota Pederson
- "Colonial Song" by Percy Grainger
- "March" from "Symphonic Metamorphosis" by Paul Hindemith
- "Sailing with Whales" by Rassano Galante
The ASU Wind Ensemble features over 50 student musicians performing on various woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. It is directed by Dr. Jonathan Alvis, ASU director of bands.
On Monday, March 25, the Wind Ensemble will begin a three-day performance and recruiting tour that includes stops at high schools in Anson, Burkburnett, Henrietta, Holliday, Knox City, Merkel, Munday, and Wichita Falls.
