World Renowned Hornist to Teach & Play at Angelo State University

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University will present a special guest trumpet recital and master class by Ashley Hall-Tighe, the newest member of the world-renowned Canadian Brass, on Wednesday, March 20, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The master class will begin at 3 p.m. and the recital will begin at 7 p.m. Both events will take place in the EFA Building's Eldon Black Recital Hall and are free and open to the public. For her recital, Hall-Tighe will be accompanied by collaborative pianist, Ana Maria Otamendi.

An internationally known musician and educator, Hall-Tighe's performing career has spanned over two decades. She has given solo performances in 10 countries on four continents at venues ranging from the Sydney Opera House in Australia to the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China. She is also on the trumpet faculty at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and has been the principal trumpet for the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra since 2008. She is just the second woman to be invited to join Canadian Brass. More details are available on her website at ashleyhalltighe.com.

Otamendi, a native of Venezuela, has performed as a soloist, collaborative pianist and conductor throughout the U.S., South America and Europe. She is also an associate professor of collaborative piano and director of the program at Louisiana State University, artistic director of the Collaborative Piano Institute and pianist of the Reveron Piano Trio.
