The SAN ANGELO, TX — The Central Bobcats Baseball team hosted the Big Spring Steers at Donsky Field in San Angelo on Wednesday night. After an even stalemate through the first two innings, the Bobcats’ offense came alive, scoring in every inning after that. The ‘Cats claimed victory, 8-1.
Big Spring managed only one run throughout the contest. Central played tough on defense and even tougher on the mound. On offense, Central scored one run in the 3rd, four runs in the 4th, two in the 5th, and a final run in the 6th off a RBI sac-fly from Ben Puello, who scored Mason Van Sickle to give the ‘Cats an 8-1 lead headed to the 7th inning.
Central then turned a double play to end the contest. A hard-hit ball up the middle was snagged at second base and then ripped to first to claim the final two outs needed to end the game.
The Central Bobcats wrap up tournament season on the road against Arlington Lamar on Saturday, March 15, in Arlington before the ‘Cats begin district 2-6A play. Central travels to Midland High on Thursday, March 21, to play the Bulldogs in their first district matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
