Cowboys Make Uncharacteristic Move Early in Free Agency

ARLINGTON— The Dallas Cowboys made a move in free agency as did their division rivals.

The NFL free agency has started and after sitting out early the last few off seasons, the Dallas Cowboys had a signing early.

The Cowboys, who are going “All In” this season according to owner and general manager Jerry Jones, have made a signing early by resigning their long snapper, Trent Sieg, to a one-year deal. While every other team in the NFL made big moves on the first day, the Cowboys are finally on the board on Day Two of free agency.

Sieg has spent one year with the Cowboys after his first five years with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The 'Boys division rivals were also busy.

The New York Giants traded for pass rusher Brian Burns, who was acquired from the Carolina Panthers for a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick. Burns is a former first round pick in 2019 and has 46 sacks so far in his career. The Giants have also signed quarterback Drew Lock, running back Devin Singletary, and offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor and Jon Runyan.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed former New York Giant’s first round pick, running back Saquon Barkley, to a three-year deal and they’ve signed tight end Albert Okwuegbunam. The Eagles also resigned guard Landon Dickerson and defensive end Brandon Graham. Julian Okwara and Bryce Huff also signed with Philadelphia.

The Washington Commanders signed former Dallas Cowboy’s center Tyler Biadasz, tight end Zach Ertz, running back Austin Ekeler, and quarterback Marcus Mariota. On defense, Washington signed another former Cowboy, Dorance Armstrong along with Frankie Luvu. For special teams, they’ve signed Brandon McManus to a one-year deal.

Another big name to leave the Cowboys is running back Tony Pollard, who signed with the Tennessee Titans. They were talking with running back Zach Moss, who signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

None of this should come as a surprise as the Cowboys has sat around and picked up the pieces after free agency has died down in recent years.

Other big name signings include running back Derrick Henry signing with the Baltimore Ravens, quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Patrick Queen signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, running back Joe Mixon has been traded to the Houston Texans, quarterback Mac Jones has been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars, ex-Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis signed with the Jaguars, running back Josh Jacobs signed with the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Jones signed with the Minnesota Vikings, quarterback Kirk Cousins signed with the Atlanta Falcons, Leonard Floyd signed with the San Francisco 49ers, and Leonard Williams signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
