SAN ANGELO, TX — Spring Break travelers will be met with rising fuel costs, as the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Texas has reached $3.01.
This figure, provided by the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, has increased by 12 cents over the past month. Despite the recent increase, prices are still seven cents lower than they were at this time last year.
In Tom Green County, the cost of gasoline averages slightly lower at $2.95 per gallon. Meanwhile, El Paso reports the highest average price in the state at $3.28 per gallon, with Tyler having the lowest at $2.86.
The national average is $3.39 for a gallon of regular unleaded, up 6 cents from last week and 23 cents from last month.
Yet, compared to the same period last year, the national average is 7 cents cheaper.
The record-high average prices in San Angelo saw regular unleaded peak at $4.480 on June 14, 2022, and diesel reach its highest at $5.193 on June 18, 2022.
San Angelo's current averages for regular, mid-grade, premium, and diesel fuel are $2.95, $3.37, $3.71, and $3.67.
