SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo chapter of Safari Club International (SCI) celebrated ten years of conservation service for hunters a the annual Hunters Extravaganza Banquet Saturday night at the First Financial Pavilion at the San Angelo fairgrounds.
The annual banquet includes a meal, silent and live auctions including one of a kind items and hunting trips from around the world and lots more.
According to the SCI, the San Angelo Chapter has granted $1,0467,852 in total grants since its inception.

The San Angelo Charter of Safari Club International was started by a group of individuals who have common values in wildlife conservation. SCI is a worldwide leader in conservation.
SCI San Angelo Chapter President Alan McClain says they had about 650 people attend the annual event which was a record. "These fundraising events help our mission in many ways. 30% of our net proceeds from this banquet will go to the International Organization to help with the overall SCI mission and in 2023, the San Angelo Chapter was one of the top chapters in the world for money given back to SCI. The Chapter keeps 70% to distribute locally towards our own conservation, education and humanitarian efforts. Since 2014, the local chapter has granted $1,047,852 from money raised at our annual events."
The Pathfinder Youth Award Program recognized Brassi Garcia, 8, and Gunner Quirk, 8. Brassi harvested an Aoudad sheep in his first hunt and Gunner harvested a white tail deer. Brassi overcame many obstacles as a youth including permanent injuries. Gunner has a rare congenital disorder called Kabuki Syndrome.
SCI chapters around the country and the world hold fundraisers and other charitable events to further promote the missions of the International Organization that Safari Club International is. The money raised at these events help promote sustainable use wildlife conservation worldwide while also protecting freedoms to hunt.
