SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University Symphonic Band will present its first concert of the spring season on Monday, March 4, in the Brooks & Bates Theatre at the San Angelo Performing Arts Center, 82 Gillis St. in downtown San Angelo.
Titled "Escapades," the concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The program will feature a variety of music, with each piece led by a different ASU student conductor. Works to be performed include
- "Emblazoned" by Brian Balmages - conducted by Corey DeChaine of Del Rio
- "Furioso" by Robert W. Smith - conducted by Jesse Ruiz-Ortiz of San Angelo
- "Shackelford Banks" by Jay Bocook - conducted by Matthew Wenzel of Yoakum
- "Inspiration Fanfare" by Adrian Sims - conducted by Allison Culwell of San Angelo
- "Energy Ball" by Carol Brittin Chambers - conducted by Jacob Peterman of San Antonio
- "Spectral Dances" by Jason Kitsch - conducted by Ben Martin of Fort Worth
- "Broken Bow" by Carl Strommen - conducted by Rebeca Ramos of Plains
- "The Great Locomotive Chase" by Robert W. Smith - conducted by Nicholas DeLeon of Killeen
- "Trampoline Jump" by Steve Hodges - conducted by Nikki Garcia of Midland
The ASU Symphonic Band includes over 50 student musicians performing on various woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. It is directed by Dr. Jonathan Alvis, ASU director of bands.
