Christoval HS Principal Resigns After 18 Years

CHRISTOVAL, TX— Christoval ISD bid farewell to John Choate, the Principal of the high school/junior high campus last week.

Information from the school states that Choate accepted a new job opportunity, marking the end of his 18-year tenure at the school.

This change was effective as of last Friday, with Mr. Choate stepping down from his role as Principal.

“Mr. Choate has been an integral part of our school community for 18 years, and his dedication and leadership have greatly contributed to the success and growth of our school,” Superintendent Clint Askins stated. “During his time as Principal, Mr. Choate worked tirelessly to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for our students, supported our teachers and staff, and fostered strong relationships with parents and the community."

The information continues, stating that Choate will not be present for the remainder of the year but will be "completing" the graduation ceremony in May.

“While we are sad to see Mr. Choate go, we are grateful for the impact he has made on our school and wish him all the best in his new role,” Askins stated. “Rest assured, we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the high standards of education and support that Mr. Choate helped to establish.”

In the interim, the school has appointed Bobby Fryar, alongside Askins and Mrs. Hollway, to oversee the daily operations.

Fryar, with over 30 years of experience as a former Superintendent, High School Principal, Coach, and Teacher, brings a wealth of expertise to the role.
