SAN ANGELO, TX — A recent report from Zillow reveals that Gen-Z workers are increasingly choosing Texas as their preferred destination, outpacing all other states in terms of net migration.
Several factors contribute to this influx of young professionals, including job and economic opportunities, income tax savings, the absence of state taxes, and notably, a comparatively low cost of living.
According to data derived from the 2020-2022 U.S. Census, Texas experienced a net gain of over 76,000 Gen-Z residents. In comparison, California and Florida followed with 44,000 and 41,000 new Gen-Z residents, respectively. The report emphasizes that the primary drivers behind this migration trend are the attractive opportunities and affordability offered by the Lone Star State.
This trend is not exclusive to Generation Z, as the Zillow report highlights that Texas has consistently attracted a substantial number of movers year-over-year, based on data from a U.S. Census Bureau 2022 survey.
The appeal of Texas, characterized by opportunities and affordability, seems to resonate across different age groups, making it a preferred destination for those looking to build their futures.
