WALL, TX — After the controversial and tearful departure of the 17-year veteran Wall Hawks head football coach, that coach has now thrown his hat into the ring asking the citizens in Wall to elect him to the Wall ISD Board of Trustees.
Couch Houston Guy was the winningest coach in the Concho Valley and had asked for one more year on his contract before he retired so that he could coach his son during his son’s senior season. The school board nixed that idea and chose to not renew Guy’s contract. Instead, the board hired Guy’s assistant, Coach Craig Slaughter.
Now Guy is running to replace one of the board members who ended his Wall Hawks coaching tenure. Guy is running against Curtis Holtman who was elected to the board in 2018. Guy is running in a crowded five-candidate race. In addition to Guy and the incumbent, Crystal Braden, Kevin Ripple, and Doug Wilde have also filed to run for that spot.
