Wall Posts School Board Agenda Ahead of Meeting

WALL— The Wall administration has posted the agenda for the upcoming school board meeting.

Wall has posted the topics for discussion that will take place at the Wall School Board meeting on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. The agenda is as follows:

If, during the course of the meeting, discussion of any item on the agenda should be held in a closed meeting, the board will conduct a closed meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meeting Act, Tex. Gov’t Code, Chapter 551, Subchapters D and E.

In accordance with the Texas Open Meeting Act, the meeting and agenda must be posted least 72 hours before the actual meeting. The Wall administration posted the time and date of the upcoming meeting on February 1, 2024, and the agenda on February 9, 2024, well before the meeting.

Of course, the Wall community has interest in this upcoming meeting due to the resignation of former head coach Houston Guy as a petition to reinstate the coach has reached over 500 signatures. Guy resigned due to a pending reassignment within the district. 

While some have speculated that the meeting was set 7:00 a.m. on Ash Wednesday, Superintendent Russell Dacy has confirmed with San Angelo LIVE! that is simply not the case. He stated that the meeting was set so that all the school board members could be in attendance.

The Wall School Board has held meeting at 7:00 a.m. in the past and, for the most part, had held the meeting on a Wednesday. Dacy said this was to allow the school board members who have children involved in extracurricular activities to attend those for their children. With basketball and the stock show in town, along with-it being Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day, the upcoming meeting was set at 7:00 a.m.

According to the Wall ISD website:

Regular School Board Meetings are held each month. The meeting for the upcoming month is scheduled during the current monthly meeting. Monthly meetings will begin promptly at 6:00 pm unless otherwise posted. Although it's not required that all board members be in attendance at each board meeting, it is the goal of the Wall ISD Board of Trustees that meetings are scheduled so that all seven board members are in attendance.
