SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rambelles Softball team began their 2024 campaign last weekend at the DII First Pitch Invitational in Conroe, TX.
The Belles have several new faces this year, but that did not deter the ladies from having an excellent opening weekend. Angelo State played six games over three days and left with a 5-1 overall record.
The weekend highlight came in Game 1 on Friday afternoon against No. 17 Wingate. The Belles beat Wingate 4-2 with an excellent performance from Titiana Trotter. Trotter hit a two-shot home run in the bottom of the 6th inning to secure the win for ASU. Cheyenne Floyd picked up the win on the mound.
Overall, the Rambelles went 5-1 on the weekend with wins over No. 17 Wingate (4-2), Central Washington (7-4), MSU Denver (7-1), Arkansas Tech (9-6), and Colorado Mesa (7-6). The only loss on the weekend came in a close contest with No. 19 Rogers State, where the Belles lost 6-3.
Head Coach Travis Scott spoke on the ladies’ performance over the weekend at the ASU Coaches’ press conference on Monday at the Junell Center in San Angelo. Watch the full press conference below.
The Rambelles return to action for their 2024 home debut when they host the George and Ola McCorkle Challenge at the Angelo State Softball Complex in San Angelo. First pitch is scheduled against Texas A&M International at 2:30 p.m.
