SAN ANGELO— Both the Sterling City Lady Eagles and Eagles secured wins against Water Valley and refocus on Christoval.
While the Lady Eagles beat the Lady Wildcats by over 20 points, the Eagles kept things interesting through the first half against the Wildcats. After three, Sterling City had built up a pretty decent lead and finished the game, 53-35.
Now, they get to face the Cougars in Christoval. The Lady Cougars are the top of their district right now. They’ve beaten every district foe in their path including the Ozona Lady Lions twice and get to focus on being undefeated district champs if they can close out the season, which, this is the last regular season game for them before heading into the playoffs.
The Cougars have dropped a few games and are 8-3 in district with Sterling City right behind them at 7-4. The Reagan County Owls are in first place, having only lost to the Forsan Buffaloes earlier this season. The Cougars have already beat Sterling City in the first half of district, 65-55.
One thing this Christoval team has is youth while the Eagles have a few seniors that are big contributors like Ty Turner who had 14 points against the Wildcats on Friday.
The Sterling City Eagles are slated to take on the Christoval Cougars this Tuesday, February 6, 2024, with the girl’s game starting at 6:15 p.m. and the boy’s game starting at 7:45 p.m.
