Hit-and-Run Injures Abilene Construction Worker; Driver Still at Large

 

ABILENE, TX – A hit-and-run incident on Wednesday morning left an Abilene construction worker injured, and as of Friday morning, the Abilene Police Department is actively seeking the driver responsible for the incident. Although investigators have pursued leads, no arrests have been made yet.

The victim, a 55-year-old construction worker, suffered "some major injuries and trauma," according to the Abilene Police Department. Fortunately, the injuries are not considered life-threatening. The incident occurred in the Shirley Road area of I-20 East in Abilene around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

The suspect's vehicle, described as an orange pickup truck, struck the construction worker and fled the scene. Abilene Police are treating this incident seriously and have identified charges that the driver could face, including failure to stop and render aid, as well as felony hit-and-run.

After the collision, the victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance for medical attention. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward and assist in resolving the case.

The Abilene Police Department emphasizes the importance of community cooperation in identifying the driver responsible for the hit-and-run, ensuring that justice is served, and holding accountable those who violate traffic safety laws.
