SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Champion Angelo State Rams officially kick off their 2024 campaign this weekend. The Rams travel to Portales, NM, to play Eastern New Mexico for the start of Lone Star Conference play on opening weekend.
Head Coach Kevin Brooks held his first press conference of 2024 on Monday, January 29, before the Rams opening weekend. Brooks expressed his excitement to start the year and said that he’s ready to see what his team can do this season.

The Rams finished with a 56-9 overall record in 2023, won an LSC Championship, and the program’s first National Title. The strength behind Angelo State’s success a season ago was the pitching. The Rams lost the consensus NCAA Division II Player of the Year, Kade Bragg, to the MLB Draft last summer, so there will be big shoes to fill.
Some players to watch this season are NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association), All-Americans Jacob Guerrero, Braxton Pearson, Tripp Clark, and Austin Beck.
The Rams open up 2024 on Friday, February 2, in Portales, NM, against the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds. First pitch will be at 3 p.m.
