Dense Fog Blanketing West Texas Wednesday Morning

SAN ANGELO – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 AM this morning. Patchy areas of dense fog will persist through mid-morning across portions of West Central Texas, causing visibility to drop near zero at times. Wet soils, continued low-level moisture, and cool ground temperatures have contributed to the development of fog. Some areas of dense fog are expected to linger until 9 AM, when the advisory is set to expire.

A few showers are tracking into southwestern counties this morning, weakening as they move northward toward the Big Country. An area of subsidence over the Big Country will limit lift and diminish chances of continued precipitation. An upper-level trough and shortwave disturbances will move into West Central Texas from the west, maintaining southwesterly to southerly flow aloft. This will bring chances of showers in the morning and increased cloud cover throughout the day. However, precipitation chances are expected to be lower and less widespread compared to recent days, according to high resolution and global models.

Afternoon temperatures are forecasted to struggle, reaching the upper 40s to upper 50s across the Big Country, Concho Valley, and Heartland, while the Northern Edwards Plateau and NW Hill Country may rise into the upper 50s to mid-60s. Overnight lows across West Central Texas are expected to fall into the upper 30s to mid-40s.
