San Angelo Schools Foundation Honored for Decades of Educational Impact

SAN ANGELO, TX - The San Angelo ISD regular meeting held on January 22 featured a special recognition for the San Angelo Schools Foundation.

Members of the Schools Foundation have surprised educators and campus grant award winners across the district. President Stacie Elkins and Executive Director Noreen B. Carpenter were among those acknowledged for their significant contributions.

The Schools Foundation, with a legacy spanning over 30 years, has been a key player in supporting special projects and fostering educator creativity through grants.

According to information from the school, these grants have brought to life initiatives such as STEM camps, Osmo interactive game systems for iPads, and percussion instruments tailored for special needs students.

San Angelo ISD expressed gratitude to the Schools Foundation for their continued support, emphasizing the collaborative efforts that uplift students and staff. Executive Director of Communications Molly Turk highlighted the foundation's role in working alongside the district and educators to help students realize their hopes and dreams.

“These dedicated foundation members collaborate with our district and educators to help our students reach their individual hopes and dreams by supporting and inspiring our educators to create and pursue innovation and excellence in the classroom,” Turk said. “We cannot wait to see the innovative projects our educators and teams put the grant funds toward to help our students collaborate, critical-think, and communicate. San Angelo ISD is greatly appreciative of the San Angelo Schools Foundation’s decades of commitment to our students, support of our mission, our educators, and the many contributions to improve our San Angelo community.”

Since its inception in 1989, the Schools Foundation has awarded a total of over $800,000 in grants to teachers. In the most recent round of grants in November 2023, the foundation distributed over $94,000 to 66 educators and facilitated 11 "All-campus grants," impacting a total of 22 campuses.
