SAN ANGELO, TX - A grass fire broke out near the intersection of Nevada Drive and Iowa Avenue, prompting a response from the Department of Public Safety, the San Angelo Police Department, and the San Angelo Fire Department.
Emergency crews worked collaboratively to contain and extinguish the blaze. The situation remains under control, and there are no reported injuries at this time.
The fire was contained in a pit area that was also believed to be a homeless camp.
By the time first responders arrived, there were no homeless people.
Eyewitnesses said that before the fire took off, six explosions were heard. It was believed that aerosol cans and propane bottles could have caused the explosions.
Witnesses on scene also told San Angelo LIVE! that the landowner knows about the homeless camp and does not want homeless people on the land, but is having trouble getting rid of them.
Some residents were unaware that there was a homeless camp in the vicinity.
