Police Shoot Vape Shop Robbery Suspect

 

FORT WORTH, Texas — Authorities from the Fort Worth Police and the Tarrant District Attorney's Office are investigating an officer-involved shooting early Sunday morning.

Fort Worth Police posted a press conference detailing the incident on their YouTube channel, along with a press release available on X.

The shooting unfolded around 4 a.m. when officers responded to a reported robbery at a 24-hour vape shop in the 6400 block of McCart Avenue, near Altamesa Boulevard.

Upon arrival at the scene minutes after receiving the call, officers initiated a search for the suspect who reportedly fled into an open field behind the shopping center.

The suspect was discovered hiding in a backyard in the 3200 block of Fargo Court, according to police statements.

An encounter between an officer and the suspect ensued, resulting in the officer discharging one round and striking the suspect in the leg.

Immediate first aid was provided by officers on-site before the wounded suspect was transported to a hospital, where authorities anticipate his recovery. The suspect, identified as a 37-year-old male, remains unnamed by Fort Worth Police at this time.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among individuals inside the vape shop or among the officers involved in the incident.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on Significant Event Leave, as per FWPD protocol.

The FWPD Major Case Unit, Internal Affairs, and the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office are actively investigating this case.
