SAN ANGELO, TX - James Pettit, a local entrepreneur, recently sold San Angelo Limosouine Company and other business ventures, opting to refocus his efforts towards a more personally significant endeavor. Pettit has been involved in the limousine business in San Angelo for over ten years now. Pettit explained that he started the company in the beginning and then later decided to sell it due to the necessity to allocate more of his time to other projects.
As fate would have it, Pettit was presented with an opportunity to purchase the company back later on. He said that the timing was perfect and so he made the decision to reclaim his old business and continue servicing San Angelo and its residents. Pettit says he loves the limo business because he gets to be a part of the significant events in people's lives. He went on to explain that most people hire out a limo company for really special events in their lives such as weddings, birthdays, graduations, quinceañeras, bachelor and bachelorette parties, high school prom, and other similar events. In addition, he said that he enjoys meeting new people and learning about their lives.
Pettit decided to scale back and refocus his energy and efforts on something more significant to him personally. Pettit says he wants to do everything he can to help other people with their health and prevent them from having heart-related diseases and illnesses. He felt like the best way to do this was to go back to school and attain the education required for practicing cardiology or interventional radiology.
This is a very personal mission for Pettit because he was diagnosed with coronary artery disease last year and had to undergo immediate open-heart surgery. Motivated by his health scare, Pettit aims to assist others in preventing heart-related diseases.

The ordeal began with Pettit experiencing shortness of breath and chest pains after physical activities like yard work, accompanied by shooting pains in his arm and neck. Months of persistent discomfort led him to seek medical advice. A stress test raised concerns, prompting doctors to conduct a cardio angiogram, revealing three major blockages exceeding ninety-five percent. This discovery necessitated immediate open-heart surgery.
Describing the aftermath as one of the most intrusive surgeries, Pettit highlighted the post-operative challenges, citing waking up amidst numerous tubes and excruciating pain.
"There's just nothing else like it. Waking up after surgery is the worst part. It's terrifying. You wake up with all these different tubes connected to your body and coming out of you and you have this other huge tube down your throat. I was in the worst pain of my life and I couldn't move a muscle without excruciating pain emanating from my sternum where they had cracked me open. I couldn't look around or talk or even breathe without feeling like I was going to pass out from the pain." Reflecting on the recovery, Pettit acknowledged its impact not only on his life but also on those supporting him during the healing process.
Post-recovery, Pettit reassessed his priorities, choosing to divest from multiple businesses, including San Angelo Limosouine Company, a food truck, a production company, and a bridal showcase. The decision aimed to alleviate the strain of managing numerous enterprises, allowing him more time with family and a predictable work schedule.

Planning a career shift, Pettit aspires to become a cardiologist or interventional radiologist, leveraging his firsthand experience to aid individuals grappling with similar heart conditions. Currently pursuing educational requirements, Pettit aims to contribute to San Angelo's healthcare sector at Shannon Medical Center.
Reflecting on his journey, Pettit emphasized the importance of cherishing every moment and pursuing passions, learning that time is precious and should not be squandered on unchangeable worries. Pettit passionately exclaimed “Time stands still for no man. Every minute on this Earth counts and should be spent doing what you love to do. Why waste time on frivolous distractions and spend your precious time worrying about things you can’t change? Soak up the moment and don’t ever take it for granted.”
San Angelo Limosouine Company will continue to serve our community for years to come with new owners set to acquire the business within the next few days according to Pettit. As he embarks on this new path, Pettit looks forward to making a meaningful impact in healthcare, advocating for a life filled with purpose and appreciation for every moment.
