Tree Trimming Burlgary Scam Spans From Dallas to Houston

DALLAS, TX — Criminals masquerading as tree trimmers, previously targeting residences in the Houston area, have expanded their burglary scheme to Dallas, leading to substantial financial losses for unsuspecting families.

In the most recent incident on Saturday, Dick and Mary Barr fell victim to the imposters. Having seen the story of Keli Rabon, a victim of a similar ruse in Houston, the Barrs reached out for assistance. Since Rabon's case has been released, a total of 12 victims have emerged, with investigators suspecting there may be additional unreported cases according to KHOU 11 News out of Houston Texas.

The Barrs' home surveillance footage captured the orchestrated burglary. While Dick Barr engaged with the fraudulent tree trimmer outside, an accomplice attempted to force entry through the front door. Foiled by a locked door, the intruder diverted to the back, barging into the patio and subsequently the master bedroom, rummaging through Mary's closet and seizing a trove of jewelry.

Unbeknownst to the Barrs, the burglars had canvassed their neighborhood earlier in the day, attempting to deceive others. Investigators linked the same perpetrators to the Houston incident involving Keli Rabon.

Numerous victims, including those from Seabrook, Katy, Cypress, and even College Station, have reached out to Rabon following the dissemination of her story, revealing an extensive network of the criminals' activities.

The burglars have been observed utilizing various vehicles, including a dark-colored truck and most recently, a black Chevy Tahoe. Despite collaborative efforts by multiple law enforcement agencies, the perpetrators remain at large, prompting caution among homeowners.

Keli Rabon stressed vigilance, advising against admitting unexpected contractors or assessors into homes. Investigators indicated the suspects may be part of a larger syndicate operating along the East Coast and are urging anyone who recognizes them to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

Authorities are working diligently to unravel the tactics employed by these criminals in selecting their targets.
