SAN ANGELO, TX - In an effort to promote environmental consciousness and artistic innovation, the Keep San Angelo Beautiful organization is hosting a Christmas Recycled Art Contest.
The competition, exclusively for handmade or homemade creations by students, will accept entries between December 28th and January 6th.
Artists can submit their pieces at the North Branch Library located at 3001 N. Chadbourne, Tuesday through Saturday, during the hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It's essential to note that the library is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Winners of the contest will be announced on Monday, Jan. 9, during the KSAB Jr Ambassador Youth Advisory Council's meeting.
The winner’s celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the North Branch Library, where the winning artworks will be on display until January 26th.
To participate, interested individuals need to fill out an entry form and bring both the form and their handmade artwork to the designated “Art Intake Days.”
The contest organizers encourage free-standing artworks and wall hangings while emphasizing that submissions must not be store-bought items.
Artists are encouraged to use a minimum of 75 percent of Christmas trash in their creations, aligning with this year's theme: "Recycle in the New Year!"
Artwork dimensions should not exceed 12"X12". Entries will also be featured on the organization's Facebook page.
Prizes will be awarded in three divisions: elementary, middle school, and high school. Participants are required to pick up their artwork by Wednesday, Jan. 26.
