NEW JERSEY — It seems like an average NFL Fan secured a copy of last week’s mythical 'NFL script' as Travis Dufner, a man from New Jersey, placed a 14-leg parlay and won big. Dufner needed 14 different NFL players to all score touchdowns over Christmas weekend for his $5, 14-leg parlay to win. Stars aligned as the NFL bettor turned his $5 into nearly $500,000.
The odds of all the players selected came out to +9787560 and seemed wildly unlikely. However, as the weekend rolled on, more and more players punched the ball into the end zone.
Here’s what Dufner’s parlay looked like - All needed touchdowns:
- Najee Harris, RB, Pittsburgh
- Gabriel Davis, WR, Buffalo
- Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Detroit
- DK Metcalf, WR, Seattle
- Jerome Ford, RB, Cleveland
- Chris Rodriguez Jr., RB, Washington
- Jonathan Taylor, RB, Indianapolis
- Calvin Ridley, WR, Jacksonville
- James Conner, RB, Arizona
- Raheem Mostert, RB, Miami
- Javonte Williams, RB, Denver
- Isiah Pacheco, RB, Kansas City
- D’Andre Swift, RB, Philadelphia
- Christian McCaffrey, RB, San Francisco
All these players scored touchdowns to turn the $5 bet into $489,383.01. The odds seemed so daunting not only because 14 players on different teams all had to score touchdowns but several of these players hadn’t produced much over the past several weeks. Buffalo’s Gabe Davis hadn’t recorded a catch, let alone a touchdown, in almost a month, Calvin Ridley has been wildly inconsistent this season, Chris Rodriguez Jr.’s carries barely reach above 10 per game, and the Bronco’s Javonte Williams came off a performance last week where he hardly produced at all.
Despite the odds, Travis Dufner prevailed and won himself almost half a million dollars. The winning bet was the third-longest odds of any winning bet in DraftKings Sportsbook's history.
