Wingate VFD Firefighter Passes Away Christmas Morning

WINGATE, TX — The Wingate Volunteer Fire Department is grappling with profound grief following the tragic loss of one of its members in the early hours of Christmas morning. Kallie Antilley-Martinez, Badge 236, was not just a firefighter but a valiant emblem of courage within the community, demonstrating unwavering dedication to her service in the fire department.

Ms. Martinez, a proud and active servant to the Wingate community, embodied fearlessness in her role as a firefighter. Her commitment and unwavering resolve were a testament to her family's legacy within the department. She was the wife of an Assistant Chief, the daughter of a firefighter, and the granddaughter of a founding member of the Wingate Fire Department.

In a statement, the department mourned her passing, expressing their collective sorrow and highlighting her significant contributions to the department's mission. “236, you will be missed, carry and guide us in the mission towards ‘ex fine resurgam’ and help us to arise from the fire!” the statement read.

The Wingate Fire Department has established a GoFundMe campaign to support Ms. Martinez's family during this challenging time. Donations received will contribute towards final expenses and aid the family as they navigate this profound loss.

The Wingate Fire Department expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community and urged individuals to contribute to the fundraiser, emphasizing the importance of standing by the family during their time of need.

Service information for Ms. Martinez will be provided shortly, and the department asks for thoughts and prayers for her husband, family, cousins, and parents who are reeling from this devastating loss.
