RICHARDSON, TX — Two Angelo State Rams garnered Lone Star Conference Honors for their performances over the past week. The Conference announced on Monday afternoon that Keyshawn Embery-Simpson and Kevon Godwin earned the LSC’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their games against UTPB and Rollins.
Offensive Player of the Week - Keyshawn Embery-Simpson
Embery-Simpson averaged 18.8 points per game, three rebounds, and two assists over the two wins last week. He was vital to the No. 20 Rams securing another conference win and the win at the Daytona Beach Shootout. Embery-Simpson has emerged as one of the most dangerous weapons on offense from beyond the arc. In just the two games against UTPB and Rollins, the young man hit a combined nine 3-pointers. He followed up that performance on Monday with seven 3-pointers made against No. 6 West Liberty.
Defensive Player of the Week - Kevon Godwin
One of the most talented players on Angelo State’s roster, Godwin can truly play at an elite level on both ends of the floor. Defensively, the Rams’ guard averaged 4.5 steals and six rebounds in the two games last week. He also averaged 18 points and five assists in the two games against UTPB and Rollins. In the game versus Rollins, Godwin had seven steals and was absolutely instrumental in the win.
The No. 20 Rams return to action on Thursday, January 4, when Angelo State hosts Western New Mexico at the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center here in San Angelo. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
