LAREDO & EAGLE PASS, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at different Texas ports made substantial seizures of narcotics and unreported currency, underscoring their commitment to enforcing regulations and intercepting illegal activities.
At the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge in Laredo, CBP officers seized over $100,000 in unreported currency during an inbound examination of a 2011 Chevrolet HHR on December 17. Port Director Alberto Flores highlighted the dedication of the officers in upholding law and order while safeguarding communities. The intensive physical examination revealed $100,019 concealed on the driver, passengers, and belongings. The currency was confiscated, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) initiated an inquiry.

Port Director Pete Beattie emphasized the critical mission of securing the passenger environment. A 2013 Chrysler 200 entering from Mexico was flagged for further examination, leading to the discovery of 54 packages hidden within the rocker panels. Among these were 40.74 pounds of alleged fentanyl in 53 packages and 2.46 pounds of alleged heroin in one package, totaling an estimated street value of $993,203.
