Caregiver Sentenced for Abusing Elderly Client's Credit Card

SAN ANGELO— A former San Angelo Daybreak employee has been given probation for stealing from an elderly disabled person.

Kristen Weber, 41, has signed a plea deal that will place her on probation after she abused an elderly person’s bank card.

According to court documents, on February 23, 2023, the Assistant Director of Daybreak, a social services organization, had noticed unauthorized transactions on the victim’s bank card. The transaction in question occurred on December 18, 2022, and that the defendant, Weber, handles all the victim’s purchases. It was for food products at the Walmart location on West 29th Street in San Angelo.

After reviewing a bank statement, at 12:35 p.m., the unauthorized transaction was for $54.69. The legal guardian of the victim said the purchase was made without consent.

A Daybreak employee who works at the home where the victim resides said that the food that was purchased using the victim’s card was not given to the victim. The victim is non-verbal and only consumes liquid food.

Security footage from Walmart showed Weber in the store on December 18, 2022, purchasing the food items.

Weber was arrested on February 24, 2023, and booked into the Tom Green County Jail for Credit or Debit Card Abuse of an Elderly Individual. She was released on March 3, 2023. In exchange for the guilty plea, Weber was sentenced to three years of probation and must pay $2,628.15 in restitution.
