SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo State Park volunteer Sevy Wiggins is set to guide bird enthusiasts through an engaging program at the park, offering a unique opportunity to explore the diverse avian life in the area.
According to information from the park, on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., participants are invited to gather at the playground parking lot near the Red Arroyo campground for an Unofficial Christmas Bird Count.
The event will showcase an immersive experience as attendees will tally every bird spotted in the park, aiming for a comprehensive count and documenting the variety of species observed during the two-hour timeframe.
To ensure thorough coverage, attendees may be organized into smaller groups, each assigned to different sections of San Angelo State Park, located at 362 FM 2288.
Binoculars, a field guide (if available), and sturdy walking shoes are recommended for participants to make the most of this birdwatching excursion.
This event follows the success of a previous bird program held on Saturday, Dec. 9.
Visitors gathered at the main boat ramp parking lot for a Shoreline Bird Walk, enjoying a leisurely stroll along the O.C. Fisher reservoir's shoreline.
The focus was on spotting shorebirds and waterfowl that migrate to the region during the winter months.
For those interested in participating, mark your calendars and join Sevy Wiggins for an educational and enjoyable birdwatching experience at San Angelo State Park.
