SAN ANGELO, TX – In a tense encounter outside the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office on Friday, December 8, 2023, local law enforcement officials apprehended a man behaving suspiciously and found him in possession of a homemade firearm.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Jeremy Jay Daniels of San Angelo, caught the attention of investigators due to his erratic behavior. Daniels was reportedly attempting to observe deputies' activities in the parking lot while trying to stay hidden, moving in and out behind sea containers on the north end of the Sheriff's Office property.
Uniformed deputies, alerted by the investigators, approached and identified Daniels. During the interaction, they discovered he was carrying a pipe converted into a functional twelve-gauge zip gun. The makeshift firearm was not only operational but had been previously used.
Upon questioning, Daniels expressed animosity towards the sheriff's office, stemming from past encounters. He revealed his intention to use the zip gun to seek revenge against deputies.
Daniels was promptly arrested for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. Following his arrest, local agencies were informed of the potential threat against peace officers. As of this press release, Daniels remains in custody at the Tom Green County Detention Center, with bail set at $15,000.00.
