SAN ANGELO— The Texas Longhorns have made the College Football Playoffs for the first time ever under the new playoff system.
The College Football Playoff has been set and the top four team are:
- Michigan (13-0)
- Washington (13-0)
- Texas (12-1)
- Alabama (12-1)
Florida State comes in at fifth and Georgia comes in at sixth.
Michigan will play the Crimson Tide and the Longhorns will square off against the Huskies. This is the Longhorns first time since 2009 to compete for a National Championship. The Longhorns lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide, 37-21, when Colt McCoy was the signal caller for the Horns.
Of course, the last time the Longhorns won a National Title, before the College Football Playoffs, was in 2006 when then Longhorn legend Vince Young led Texas to a 41-38 victory over the USC Trojans.
Michigan v Alabama and Washington v Texas will take place on New Year’s Day with the CFP National Championship being played on January 8, 2024.
