Sterling City finished the season with a 6-4 overall record and in 2nd place in their district. The Eagles then faced off with the Miles Bulldogs in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. Miles defeated the Eagles in that game, but Sterling City still had a season to be proud of.
The Eagles’ quarterback, Ty Turner, garnered one of the District’s highest honors with the offensive MVP. Despite playing in a run-first offense, Turner still had a 2-1 touchdown to interception ratio with more than 10 TDs on the season. He was a force to be reckoned with on the ground and set up the Eagles offensively with plenty of opportunities to put points on the board.
River Kinsey also received one of the top awards as the Utility Player of the Year. Kinsey played all over the field, helping wherever he was needed. Wherever Kinsey played, he excelled. It was dynamic in the run game, pass game, and on defense. In fact, he led the Eagles in tackles on the season. The young man proved he could truly do it all in 2023.
