ODESSA, Texas — Two teenagers have been apprehended following an investigation by the Odessa Police Department into a non-lethal fentanyl overdose.
The inquiry, conducted in November 2023, led the OPD's Intelligence Unit to identify a suspect, 17-year-old Kaitlyn McKibbin, who allegedly supplied fentanyl to the victim. Surveillance footage during the investigation depicted McKibbin and her acquaintance Hayley Archuleta, also 17, frequenting the local H-E-B on 42nd and Grandview, where authorities suspected them of facilitating the sale of the dangerous drug to customers.
Law enforcement officials also noted instances of the duo smoking marijuana in the store's parking lot on multiple occasions. Subsequent to a search based on probable cause, police discovered marijuana and fentanyl-laced pills in their vehicle.
McKibbin and Archuleta were both arrested on charges of marijuana possession and the manufacture/delivery of a Fentanyl. The OPD confirmed the victim of the fentanyl overdose is recuperating and declared the closure of the investigation into the case.
