COLLEGE STATION— Kentucky head football coach Mark Stoops will not take the Texas A&M job after all.
Last night, word spread across X, formerly known as Twitter, that Stoops was going to take the head coach position at Texas A&M after they moved on from Jimbo Fisher. Now, Stoops has sent out a tweet saying that he will stay at Kentucky, giving the cold shoulder to the Aggies.
According to Billy Liucci, the executive editor and co-owner of TexAgs.com, Stoops was going to be the next Texas A&M head coach and that he even began informing people of his decision to leave but that the rabid Aggie fan base were about to stage coup which made the board drop the deal.
A different source told AggiesToday that the Texas A&M decision makers mostly all believe the interim head coach for the Aggies, Elijah Robinson, should be the next head coach. The players also apparently want Robinson to be hired into the position. Robinson was in San Angelo earlier this year.
