SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been indicted for making fake social media account to try and intimidate, harm, and or threaten his ex-girlfriend.
Andres Andrade, 46, of San Angelo, has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for Online Impersonation for making fake social media profiles to intimidate, harm, and threaten his ex-girlfriend.
According to court documents, on July 25, 2023, a female victim filed an online police report that claimed her ex-boyfriend, Andrade, created at least two fake social media profiles. Andrade allegedly posted intimate photos, threatened to sexually assault the victim, threatened to damage her property, and contacted her family with the intent to harm her.
The victim confirmed that she never maintained or created the social media accounts. Then, she provided digital media evidence that included the profile picture and profile names associated with the accounts that depicted the victim. The evidence provided included text messages sent by the fake account that were shared between Andrade and the victim from when they were in a relationship.
The fake profile, titled “tfern.ant1”, created on Instagram sent the victim intimate photos of her. In text, the fake profile threatened to release the photos on social media sites. The victim reviewed the photos, and she was unaware that she was being recorded at the time and that the only individual who was with her at the time was Andrade.
The victim said she has been in constant fear due to Andrade’s continuous actions and threats.
Andrade was arrested on September 8, 2023, and was booked in the Tom Green County Jail. He is currently an inmate and has a $310,000 bond.
