U.S. 277 southbound is blocked following a semi-truck fire near Door Key Road, between San Angelo and Christoval.
Our reporter is stuck in a line of traffic several miles long about one mile north of the fire. Over the radio, first responders have reported that the fire is out. Officials are checking the tires for additional heat spots.
Road construction is also ongoing along that stretch of highway which is compounding the traffic delays.
We will update this story when more information is available.

PermalinkOK - I've never commented anything on here but after this new trash deal has been put in place I don't like it. Trash bins in front of the houses, full ones having bags leaned up against them all in FRONT of the house. WHY can't the trash folks use the alley? We can line up all the trash cans on one side of the alley so the new trucks don't have to go up and down each alley twice. They wouldn't have to worry about going around cars in the street, trash won't be blowing around in front of our houses. That's what the alley is for - so for pete's sake, please let us keep our trash in the alley where it belongs and not dirty up the front of our houses and detract from our otherwise very nice looking city.

PermalinkI agree it does not make any sense. Maybe start a petition. A lot of people already do not like it. I'm all for recycling but why not pick up in alley for everyone?
