Dog Park Unveils New Pavilion

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Dog Park, located at 3215 Millbrook, has recently welcomed an exciting addition to its facilities. Over the past few months, the City of San Angelo's dedicated crews worked tirelessly to construct a spacious pavilion, capable of accommodating three large picnic tables. Notably, this construction project was undertaken by city employees, a cost-effective approach that saved taxpayer dollars by eliminating the need to hire outside contractors.

The funds required for the materials used in the construction of the pavilion were generously provided by a private donation through the San Angelo Area Foundation, reflecting the local community's commitment to enhancing the park.

To celebrate this significant addition, the City of San Angelo Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled a special dedication event at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 27th. The event will take place at the dog park, conveniently situated near the intersection of Millbrook and College Hills Blvd.

The San Angelo Dog Park is a securely fenced-in area designed to offer dogs a safe and enjoyable space to roam, play, and socialize without the constraints of leashes. This well-thought-out park features separate sections for smaller and larger dog breeds, with designated entrance areas where dogs are initially leashed before proceeding to their respective off-leash zones.

But the park's appeal extends beyond our four-legged friends; it's also a fantastic gathering spot for people. The City emphasizes that dog parks provide an excellent venue for both dog owners and dog enthusiasts to connect, form friendships, and contribute to a stronger, more tightly-knit community through social interactions.

The creation and maintenance of this invaluable dog park have been made possible through the generous donations of the public, partial funding from the City of San Angelo Development Corporation's half-cent sales tax funds, and the expertise of Raymond Meza Fence Co., as well as the dedication of Parks employees.

Due to ongoing reconstruction along College Hills Boulevard, accessing the park and its new pavilion is most conveniently achieved via Millbrook Drive, traveling eastbound.
