San Angelo ISD Celebrates Ground Breaking at McGill Elementary School

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo ISD Thursday celebrated a groundbreaking of the new wing at McGill Elementary School on Sherwood Way.

As previously reported, during the Mar. 2022 school board meeting, the San Angelo ISD School Board voted in favor of combining four elementary schools into two. For the original story, see: San Angelo ISD Board Votes to Combine Beloved Elementary Schools.

With that, a $13.5 million building permit was issued for the expansion of McGill Elementary.

Crews have been working on leveling out the land for the build, but on Sep. 27, 2023, the school district held a groundbreaking event to celebrate. At the event, a number of members from the public and notably San Angelo ISD and City leaders celebrated.
