SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University will present a free guest artist exhibit by California-based graphic designer and illustrator Maedeh Asgharpour starting Monday, Oct. 2, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.
Titled "From Illustration to Design," the exhibit of Asgharpour's artworks will be on display in the Carr EFA Building's Gallery 193 and will be open for free public viewing on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Nov. 3.
Asgharpour will also present a gallery talk about her exhibit on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 3 p.m. in Room 101 of the Carr EFA Building. This event will also be free and open to the public.
A native of Iran, Asgharpour has over 10 years of experience in printmaking, painting, book illustration and graphic design. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in creative practice from the School of Arts, Technology and Emerging Communication (ATEC) at the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Arts in graphic design from the University of Tehran.
Asgharpour has won awards for her art and designs at national and international festivals and exhibitions, including the 2019 POP-UP Locker Exhibition at UT Dallas and the 2021 Persian Art Exhibition hosted by the Irving Art Association. Her work was also selected as one of Colombia's top-10 finalists in the 2018 IV International Skylight Prize for Illustration. Her works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions in the U.S., Colombia, France, and Iran.
