ODESSA, TX – Law enforcement communications Monday afternoon indicated officers were dispatched to Odessa Permian High School for the report of an active shooter.
According to scanner reports, on Aug. 21, 2023 at around 1:40 p.m., Texas DPS troopers were advised that there was an active shooter at Odessa Permian High, at 1800 E 42nd St,.
At around 1:51 p.m., DPS arrived on scene and gathered near the intersection of Dawn and 42nd and were instructed to wait to make a forced entry.
Reports indicate that the active shooter had an AR style weapon.
Social media reports indicate the school campus is on lockdown.
Odessa ISD communications report they are contacting parents about the event.
