SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Stadium received a small facelift recently. At the San Angelo Independent School District board meeting on Monday, April 17, the trustees approved a bleacher replacement for the middle sections on the home side of San Angelo Stadium. As of July 21, those bleachers have since been replaced.
Prior to the renovations, San Angelo Stadium’s middle section on the home side had blue, high-backed seats. Some of those seats had cracks and other damage that made using them unviable. Fans could not even bring their own seats at that point, as the blue seats could not be removed. For that reason, SAISD made the decision to replace the blue seats with new blue bleachers.
Here is a before and after of the renovations at San Angelo Stadium:
The agenda at the meeting back on April 17 said, “During the selection of replacement seats, it was determined by Athletics that bleachers were the best option. Not only would it add additional seating by removing the plastic seats, but it would also allow fans to bring their own preferred stadium seats. An RFP (request for proposal) was produced for the replacement of the forty rows of bleachers in the middle of the home section.”
The cost for this project was $71,685. The School District only received one bid for this project from Sturdisteel Company. The School Board had budgeted for the cost of the renovation. Football season starts for both the Central Bobcats and Lake View Chiefs on August 25. Season tickets for the 2023 season are available now for current season ticket holders and go on sale for the general public on Monday, August 7.
