GRAPE CREEK, TX — The Grape Creek Lady Eagles have a new head softball coach. Announced on Wednesday, July 19, Grape Creek ISD hired Grape Creek High School alumni and former Lady Eagle softball player Morgan Fowler.
Fowler was a standout player in her time at Grape Creek. She finished her senior year with a .350 batting average while leading the Lady Eagles in home runs and RBIs. The former pitcher also recorded 74 strikeouts with a 3.8 ERA (earned run average) on the mound.
“Morgan Fowler is one of the most accomplished female athletes to come out of Grape Creek in some time,” Grape Creek Athletic Director, Tanner Thiel, said. “When I got to Grape Creek, Morgan and her twin sister Caroline were Juniors. They were both great leaders and examples for our athletic program. We are excited that Morgan is going to lead our softball program and that she can continue to be an example to young athletes at Grape Creek.”
Fowler graduated from Grape Creek High School in 2019 before earning a degree from Angelo State University.
“I am very excited for this opportunity,” Fowler said. “I’m going in with an open mind and positive attitude. I know the impact coach Theil and his wife had on me, and I’m ready to make that same impact on my athletes.”
Fowler takes over a Grape Creek Softball program that struggled last season. The Lady Eagles finished with a 3-16 overall record in District 6-3A. She has a unique opportunity to build a program in her own way from the ground up.
