HOLLYWOOD— The second trailer has dropped for a new Star Wars Disney+ show.
Ahsoka has had another trailer drop for the much-anticipated series debuting on Disney+ on August 23, 2023. Not only does it offer more in terms of plot, but the main villain makes an appearance for the first time in live action.
The official synopsis reads:
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
Ahsoka Tano was created by Dave Filoni who basically created the Clone Wars television show, Rebels, and the Mandalorian. Ahsoka debuted in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan only to walk away from the Jedi Order late in the series. She popped up again in Rebels, another animated show, where she faced off against Darth Vader, learning that Vader and Anakin are the same person.
In live action, Ahsoka first showed up, played by Rosario Dawson in the Mandalorian season two episode titled “The Jedi” where the titular character works with Tano to bring down Morgan Elsbeth, a follower of Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Later, she showed up in an episode of “The Book of Boba Fett” with Luke Skywalker and Grogu, or Baby Yoda.
In the Ahsoka series, it appears that Thrawn’s followers are looking for him and they may be adapting the “Heir to the Empire” storyline. Thrawn, who was shown in the new trailer, is played by the same actor who provided the voice work for the character in Rebels, Lars Mikkelsen.
Ahsoka is written by Dave Filnoi who teams back up with Jon Favreau after they created The Mandalorian. It stars:

- Natasha Liu Bordizzo (The Greatest Showman, Guns Akimbo) as Sabine Wren
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Birds of Prey) as Hera Syndulla
- Ray Stevenson (The Punisher: Warzone, HBO’s Rome) as Baylan Skoll
- Diana Lee Inosanto (Rent, The Mandalorian) as Morgan Elsbeth
- Lars Mikkelsen (Netflix’s The Witcher, House of Cards) as Grand Admiral Thrawn
- Hayden Christensen (Revenge of the Sith, Jumper) as Anakin Skywalker
- Ivanna Sakhno (Pacific Rim Uprising, The Spy Who Dumped Me) as Shin Hati
- Eman Esfandi (King Richard, The Inspection) as Ezra Bridger
Also, David Tennant will voice a lightsaber crafting droid called Huyang.
Ahsoka is set to have a two-episode premiere on Disney+ on August 23, 2023.
