COLLEGE STATION— The Sonora Broncos and the Miles Bulldogs are playing in the 7-on-7 state tournament for high school football from the Concho Valley.
Sunday beat Sonora 27-26. The Broncos will play Elkhart and Hawley next. The Bulldogs beat Jacksboro 27-21 and still have to play Rogers and Poth.
Both the Bulldogs and Broncos are loaded for next season as both teams brought back their quarterbacks. Miles’ signal caller Hayven Book put up 55 touchdowns last season while Sonora’s Jaime Buitron threw for over 1,600 yards and rushed for over 2,000.
Miles has a ton of weapons and brings back Cooper Ellison, Jaylen Torres, Devin Medina, amony others. The COVER1 Crew had Miles Bulldog Head Coach Jayson Wilhelm on to talk about next season.
Sonora also has weapons in Edgar DeLuna, Dylan Ford, Owen Jones, and others. Sonora Bronco Head Coach Blake Weston was also on the COVER1’s Tour Around the Concho Valley.
Also, in the state 7-on-7 tournament is the Albany Lions, who are in Miles’ district and went on to win at state last year. Hawley is also in state tournament and was absolutely dominating last year on their way to a state victory. The Bearcats beat the Broncos at San Angelo Stadium in the third round of the playoffs last year.
