Heat Advisory Through the Weekend Then Excessive Heat Returns Monday

SAN ANGELO – After the hottest two days ever recorded in San Angelo Tuesday and Wednesday, the head subsides Thursday to a balmy 104 degrees before surging back up to at least 110 Monday. 

The mercury topped out at 114 degrees the last two days breaking a decades old record and creating a new mark while at least 14 more days of temperatures above 100 degrees are in the forecast.  

A Heat Advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. Thursday.  The risk for heat related illness remains high for people who spend extended amounts of time outdoors.  Experts advise anyone working or participating in outdoor activities take precautions like wearing long sleeves, a hat and gloves, staying hydrated, and taking frequent breaks in the shade.  Better yet, stay in an air-conditioned room til the Fall.  

Never, ever, ever leave pets or children in a locked car in West Texas. That's just asking for trouble or tragedy. 

Make sure outdoor pets and children have plenty of fresh water, shade, and food or bring them inside with you if you have to.  

This will be the 9th day in a row where the afternoon high temperature has reached 100 degrees.  And the Texas Electric Grid is still holding.  ERCOT reports there is plenty of supply to meet demand.
