San Angelo Firefighters Conduct Airplane Crash Simulation Training

SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo first responders held a triennial mass casualty training event at San Angelo Regional Airport Tuesday morning.

First responders in San Angelo conducted the mass casualty training event at Mathis field. The training scenario involved simulating a mass casualty aircraft accident in order to test the effectiveness of the airport's emergency response plan. The San Angelo Fire Department took the lead in organizing the event, with participation from other law enforcement agencies such as the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The main objective of the simulation was to ensure that local firefighters remain prepared and up-to-date on how to handle such critical situations. The training included various exercises, such as responding to simulated fires. The event serves as a valuable opportunity for first responders to practice their emergency response skills and coordination.

This mass casualty training event is held every three years, allowing local emergency personnel to refresh their knowledge and skills in dealing with large-scale emergencies. By regularly conducting these simulations, the city's first responders can enhance their readiness and improve their ability to effectively manage real-life emergencies that may occur at the airport or other similar incidents.
