Heat Advisory Issued with Triple Digit Heat Forecast All Week

SAN ANGELO – A Heat Advisory has been issued for the southern Concho Valley along Interstate 10 with a high temperature of 103 degrees forecast for Tuesday.  The forecast high in San Angelo is 102 Tuesday.

Afternoon high temperatures all week will exceed 100 degrees with 107 expected both Thursday and Friday.  Expect the National Weather Service to issue an Excessive Heat Advisory for both days.

A Heat Advisory is issued within 12 hours of the onset of extremely dangerous heat conditions. The general rule of thumb for this Advisory is when the maximum heat index temperature is expected to be 100° or higher for at least 2 days, and night time air temperatures will not drop below 75°; however, these criteria vary across the country, especially for areas that are not used to dangerous heat conditions.

Take precautions to avoid heat illness. If you don't take precautions, you may become seriously ill or even die.

Make sure outdoor pets have plenty of shade and fresh water and food.  Check on elderly family, friends and neighbors.  And Never, Ever, leave a child unattended in a locked vehicle.

This is a dangerous and dynamic weather situation.  Check back regularly for updates.
