Storms Rip Up Highway Closing FM-2288 Near Buffalo Heights

SAN ANGELO – Severe Thunderstorms dumped heavy rain along FM-2288 between San Angelo and Grape Creek and ripped up part of the roadway shutting down the heavily traveled Farm to Market Road.

According to the Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department, FM 2288 remains CLOSED between Grey Wolf Ln AND Old Sterling City Highway, due to severe road damage caused by flash flooding on FM 2288. Buffalo Heights entrance is open, south of Grey Wolf Ln.

Travel on FM 2288 is discouraged at this time. TXDOT has placed 'road closed' signs & are assessing the situation.

Last night during the storms, FM 2288 is shut down due to high water on the roadways. There was a vehicle trapped in high water on FM 2288 near Buffalo Heights. Stay off FM 2288.
