Heavy Rain Saturday Night Flooded San Angelo Streets with More Possible

SAN ANGELO – Thunderstorms with heavy rain inundated San Angelo Streets early Sunday morning causing driving headaches for motorists and adding much needed rain to yards and rivers.  

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, .53 inches of rain fell between midnight and 3 a.m. as heavy thunderstorms pounded the area.  There were reports of small hail and lots of lightning and thunder.  

The NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning just after midnight that lasted through 1:45 a.m.  the San Angelo Police Department issued a Nixle Alert warning drivers about the flooding streets and the severe storms.  

There have been no reports of serious damage or injuries as of Sunday morning.

The NWS says there is a 50% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain reforming Sunday afternoon and evening.  Rain chances extend into Tuesday with a slight chance of additional showers throughout the week.
