SONORA— The Sonora Broncos have released their football schedule for next season.
Last year, the Sonora Broncos started off the season 5-1, losing only to the Coahoma Bulldogs. The Broncos took on and beat bigger schools like Ballinger (29-7) and Alpine (27-6) before starting district against Ozona. Sonora started district off right with a big win over the Lions 38-6.
Sonora was quickly brought back down to Earth against Reagan County losing 24-21.
The Broncos got back on track and got hot at the right time starting off against Anthony 48-6, then beating the Christoval Cougars 30-6, and ending district with a huge win over the Forsan Buffaloes 48-21.
The Broncos won first in district and were rewarded with a seriously tough playoff game against the Olney Cubs. The Cubs were in the same district as Hawley, who would go on to win state, Cisco, and Stamford.
In the first round against Olney, the Broncos would snatch victory 28-27. The next week, the Broncos would take on the Farwell Steers and win 18-7.
In round three, the Broncos ended up with a matchup against the Hawley Bearcats right here in San Angelo. Sonora’s season would come to an end after losing to Hawley 57-26.
Next season, the Broncos have their sights set at a very deep playoff run. A huge piece of the Bronco’s success last season, quarterback Jaime Buitron, was only a junior last year. Other pieces set to return are Edgar DeLuna, Dylan Ford, and Elijah Samaniego among others.

- September 1- Coahoma Bulldogs
- September 8- Eldorado Eagles
- September 15- Alpine Bucks (Homecoming)
- September 22- Harper Longhorns
- September 29- OPEN
- October 6- Ozona Lions
- October 13- Reagan County Owls
- October 20- Anthony Wildcats
- October 27- Christoval Cougars
- November 3- Forsan Buffaloes
