Bat Wielding Abuser Gets a Decade Behind Bars Following Plea Deal

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man on Wednesday was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a brutal assault with a baseball bat.

According to court documents, on May 17, 2023, Carlos Morales, 40, of San Angelo, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. In exchange for the guilty plea, Morales was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He will also have to pay $8,294 in restitution.

Morales was first charged with aggravated sexual assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Feb. 25, 2022. At the time of his arrest, Morales was accused of forcing a woman to perform sexual acts on  him. The woman feared for her life after Morales threatened to beat her with a baseball bat. Morales spent around 4 months in the Tom Green County jail before being bailed out on a $250,000 bond June 10, 2022. Following his release, Morales was put back in jail on Sep. 26, 2022, for violating his bond conditions. He remained in the jail till his hearing. Now he will be transferred to the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Institutional Division.
